Elizabethan play is a popular subcategory of English drama which was written and performed during the Renaissance period. It was particularly called Elizabethan play primarily because these plays were produced during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

  • The Elizabethan drama ended when the rise of the Puritan movement. The Puritan thought the plays promoted immorality.
